Our Story
Made with intention. Built to be used.
IBEX began in Hong Kong in 2022 as an independent leather practice built around a simple idea: everyday objects can be thoughtful, functional and made to last beyond a season.
Today, each piece is developed from our studio in Hong Kong, from initial form and material selection through to construction and finishing. We work in small quantities, allowing the process and the material to remain part of the object itself.

The Philosophy
Thoughtful by design.
We are not interested in making more for the sake of making more.
Each IBEX piece begins with its purpose — how it will be used, how it should feel in the hand, and how the construction can support that function over time.
Some details are visible. Others are quiet. Both matter.
The Material
Leather that changes with use.
Vegetable-tanned leather is central to much of our work. Its surface responds naturally to light, touch and time, gradually developing deeper colour, softness and character.
Variations in grain, tone and markings are part of the material rather than something we try to disguise.
We choose leather not for perfect uniformity, but for how it works with the object we are making.
The Name
Agile. Independent. Precise.
The ibex is known for moving confidently across steep, difficult terrain — balanced, deliberate and remarkably sure-footed.
That character became part of the identity behind IBEX.
Our logo carries the same idea into the craft itself: the capital I becomes a stitching needle, while a single thread forms the curve of an ibex horn.
A small connection between the name, the tool and the work.
The Object
Defined by us. Finished by you.
We determine the structure, material and construction. From there, the object continues to change through use.
Leather softens. Colour deepens. Small marks accumulate. Over time, a piece becomes less like the one that left our studio and more like something distinctly yours.
That continuing relationship with the material is part of what we value most about leathercraft.
